Sofia Mazzoleni is a speech and language therapist with experience in the assessment and treatment planning for children with speech, language, and communication difficulties.

 

Work experience in Italy

Sofia graduated from the University of Milan with a dissertation on stammering. During her studies, she undertook various placements in public and private settings, working with both children and adults. She also completed a summer internship at a private practice specialising in Developmental Language Disorders (DLD) and Specific Learning Difficulties, such as dyslexia.

She continues to collaborate with the University of Milan, participating in conferences to share her experience as an international Speech and Language Therapist working in the UK.

 

Work experience in UK

In January 2020, Sofia moved to London and started working as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant in a special school for children with autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. During this time, she completed a Master’s degree with distinction at City University of London, enhancing her clinical expertise and research skills.

In September 2022, she joined the Speech and Language Therapy team at Homerton NHS Foundation Trust, working with children aged 0 to 12 years in schools and early years settings. Since September 2023, she has been working as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist at East London NHS Trust, focusing on supporting autistic children in specialist schools and contributing to the multidisciplinary autism diagnosis team in Newham.
